LoRaWAN Temperature & Humidity Display Sensor

The ioX-Connect LoRaWAN Temperature & Humidity Display Sensor measures room temperature and relative humidity and shows both on a 2.7 in digital display, so anyone walking past can read conditions at a glance. Every reading is also sent over LoRaWAN to ioX-Pulse, where you see live values and full history on your dashboards and get an alert by email, SMS or in-app notification when a room drifts outside the limits you set.

Inside the probe housing is a factory-calibrated Sensirion SHT31 sensor with ±0.2 °C (±0.4 °F) temperature accuracy, protected by an anti-condensation cover for stable readings over time. An 8,000 mAh battery runs the sensor for up to 5 years, depending on how often it reports, and if the network drops, the sensor stores its readings and sends them once the connection is back, so your history has no gaps.

Designed for Rooms Where People Need to See the Conditions

Why this sensor?

Most wireless sensors are invisible: the data lives on a screen somewhere else, and the people in the room have to take it on trust. This sensor puts the reading on the wall where staff, students, customers and visitors can see it, and sends the same reading to ioX-Pulse so you can watch every room from one dashboard and act before a complaint or a spoiled delivery tells you something is wrong.

Best For:

  • Offices, meeting rooms and classrooms where comfort affects people's work
  • Warehouses, stockrooms and storage areas where staff check conditions on site
  • Clinics, pharmacies and medical supply rooms that need visible, logged conditions
  • Retail stores, hotels and public spaces that must stay comfortable for customers
  • Public restrooms, locker rooms and facilities where humidity drives ventilation and cleaning
  • Server closets and equipment rooms where a quick look at the wall saves a trip to a laptop

How It Works:

  1. Mount: Fix the sensor to the wall with the two screw tabs, at eye level so the display is easy to read.
  2. Activate and join: Press and hold the button for 5 seconds. The sensor wakes from its shipping sleep mode and joins your LoRaWAN gateway.
  3. Set your limits: In ioX-Pulse, choose the temperature and humidity limits for each room and who gets notified by email, SMS or in-app alert.
  4. Read it anywhere: Staff read the display in the room; you see live values, history and alerts for every room in ioX-Pulse.

Sensor to LoRaWAN gateway to ioX-Pulse dashboards and alerts

Readable at a Glance

The 2.7 in digital display shows temperature, humidity, signal strength and battery level. Switch between °C and °F remotely, or turn the readings off where you would rather not show them.

Accurate, Stable Readings

A factory-calibrated Sensirion SHT31 sensor delivers ±0.2 °C (±0.4 °F) temperature accuracy with drift of less than 0.03 °C (0.05 °F) per year, inside an anti-condensation probe housing.

Up to 5 Years on One Battery

An 8,000 mAh Li-SOCl2 battery and a 5 µA sleep current keep the sensor running for up to 5 years at typical reporting intervals. Battery level shows on the display and reports to ioX-Pulse, so replacements are planned rather than discovered.

No Gaps in Your History

If the network is unavailable, the sensor stores its readings and sends them when the connection returns. Built-in temperature and humidity alarms flag a reading outside your thresholds.

From Box to Dashboard in Four Steps

  1. Unbox and install: Mount the sensor on the wall with two screws, with the probe pointing down and clear of heat sources and direct sun.
  2. Connect: Hold the button for 5 seconds to wake the sensor; it joins your LoRaWAN gateway and starts reporting.
  3. Configure: In ioX-Pulse, add the sensor to its room, set temperature and humidity limits and choose who is alerted by email, SMS or in-app notification.
  4. Monitor: Read conditions on the wall in each room, and see every room's live values, history and alerts on your ioX-Pulse dashboards.

It's Not Just a Thermometer, It's a System

A wall thermometer tells the person standing in front of it what the room is like right now. It cannot tell you what happened overnight, warn you when the room starts drifting, or show you every room at once. Connected to ioX-Pulse, this sensor does all three: every reading lands on a dashboard with its full history, alert rules watch the data for you around the clock, and the readout on the wall still gives the people in the room an answer without logging in to anything.

Because every sensor reports into the same ioX-Pulse account, adding a room is adding a sensor: it appears beside the others, under the same alert rules and on the same dashboards. Where you need to show that conditions stayed in range, ioX-Pulse's Environmental Compliance dashboard (Beta, on plans that include it) reports time in range and excursions and produces a PDF report.

Offices and Classrooms

Temperature and humidity complaints are constant in shared spaces, and they are hard to answer without data. Put a display sensor in each room so occupants can see the conditions, and use the history in ioX-Pulse to tune HVAC schedules room by room.

  • Show room conditions to occupants without a screen or an app
  • Spot rooms that run hot or cold at the same time every day
  • Alert facilities staff when a room leaves its comfort range

Warehouses and Storage Rooms

Stock that is sensitive to heat or damp needs checking, and staff on the floor are the ones who check. The display gives them a reading where they work, while ioX-Pulse keeps the record and watches the limits overnight and on weekends.

  • Check conditions on site without a handheld meter
  • Get an SMS when a storage area drifts out of range after hours
  • Keep a timestamped history for every storage zone

Clinics, Pharmacies and Medical Supply Rooms

Supply rooms need conditions that staff can see and managers can review. The display answers the first; ioX-Pulse history, alerts and, on plans that include it, the Environmental Compliance dashboard answer the second.

  • Visible readings for staff at every supply room door
  • Alerts by email or SMS when a limit is crossed
  • Time-in-range and excursion reporting from ioX-Pulse

Retail and Hospitality

Customers and guests notice an uncomfortable room long before anyone looks at a thermostat. Monitor every floor, guest area and stockroom from one dashboard, and switch the display off in front-of-house areas if you prefer not to show it.

  • Monitor comfort across stores or properties from one account
  • Turn the on-device readout off remotely where needed
  • Compare conditions between sites and rooms

Public Restrooms and Facilities

Humidity in restrooms and locker rooms drives mold, odor and cleaning effort. Tracking it shows when ventilation is not keeping up and where cleaning effort should go.

  • Track humidity to plan ventilation and cleaning
  • Alert maintenance when humidity stays high
  • Battery life of up to 5 years keeps visits to a minimum
FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about our LoRaWAN Temperature & Humidity Display Sensor

Most questions about this sensor come down to three things: what the display shows, how long the battery lasts, and where it can be installed. Those are answered first below, followed by general questions about LoRaWAN. Can't find what you are looking for? Contact us at sales@iox-connect.com or explore our content library.

The 2.7 in digital display shows temperature, relative humidity, signal strength and battery level. You can switch the temperature between °C and °F remotely, and turn the readings off remotely in places where you would rather not show them.

Temperature accuracy is ±0.2 °C (±0.4 °F) with 0.1 °C resolution, from a factory-calibrated Sensirion SHT31 sensor. Humidity is measured from 0 to 99.9 %RH, with ±4 %RH accuracy between 20 and 95 %RH.

Up to 5 years, depending on how often the sensor reports. It runs on an 8,000 mAh Li-SOCl2 battery (2 x ER18505, non-rechargeable), and battery level shows on the display and in ioX-Pulse.

No. The operating range is 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F), set by the display. For cold storage, use the Industrial Temperature Sensor (Multi-Probe) or a low temperature sensor, and for harsher spaces, the Industrial Temperature & Humidity Sensor.

The sensor stores its readings and sends them once the connection returns, so the history in ioX-Pulse has no gaps.

Every 20 minutes by default. The interval is adjustable by downlink from ioX-Pulse where the device profile supports it, and pressing the button sends a reading on demand.

The display shows the current reading in the room on its own. To see history, compare rooms and get alerts, connect the sensor to ioX-Pulse, which you can try free.

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a low-power wireless protocol built for sensors. Devices send small packets of data over long distances while using very little power, in unlicensed radio bands (915 MHz in the United States), so there are no cellular data fees per sensor.

Range depends on the building and gateway placement. Indoors, one gateway commonly covers a whole building; outdoors, LoRaWAN typically reaches several kilometers (a few miles).

LoRaWAN encrypts data with AES-128 at two levels: a network session key protects the link between the sensor and the network server, and an application session key encrypts the data itself end to end.

A single gateway can serve hundreds of sensors, depending on how often they report. At a 20-minute interval, one gateway handles a typical building with room to spare; add gateways to extend coverage.

No. 915 MHz signals pass through walls and floors, which is why LoRaWAN suits offices, schools and warehouses. Avoid mounting the sensor inside metal cabinets, which block the signal.
